Santa Marta,

Hi Girlies,

 Today we are in Santa Marta, Columbia.  Our ship docked right downtown.

 We took a very short ride on a shuttle to the port gate and then walked right into the town.  It was very busy with lots of people and traffic.  And it is getting pretty hot as we cruise farther south.

We saw lots of these dogs laying around, and a few feral cats. The dogs don”t bother you at all. They just laze around. You see this all over Central and South America.

We saw the Santa Marta Cathedral.

And we saw this monument to Simon Bolivar.  He liberated South America and is a hero here.

Gpa had to stop for a beer.  Now Budgie, a couple days ago you asked why Gpa has to have beer.  Well, for the same reason you have candy, I like it!  And remember, your Daddy likes beer too.  In this picture, notice my new red Ray Ban sunglasses that I bought for $5.  I told you I need some red ones.  I bought them from a guy on the beach.  The first time I cleaned them, the Ran Ban lettering came off the lenses.  Do you think they are fake?  I want my money back!

Last night we had dinner at the ship’s Japanese restaurant.  It was fantastic.

 We started with sushi and sashimi (raw fish).

Then we had shrimp tempura, it was so good.

Then we had ceviche, seafood marinated in lime juice.

Then warm mushroom salad.  Think Budgie would like this :).

Finally we had lobster stir fry.

Oh, what a meal this was.  We can’t wait to go back!

BTW, after we came back from town today, we had lunch and had our first DESSERT (thank you Miss Spell Check).   Creme Brûlée and carrot cake.  They were tiny and really good.  

So, that is all for today.  Tomorrow we are in Cartagena, Columbia.  The next day we go through the Panama Canal.
