Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Hi Girls,
  It’s Sunday and we are now at our first port, Santo Domingo.  Here is a picture as we were approaching the port.  Along side of us is the Pilot Boat.  The Pilot is a local person who knows all about the port.  The Pilot gets on our ship and helps the Captain safely dock.

Gpa was up early today and went for a walk on the Promenade Deck.  This is a really nice place to walk and it goes around the entire ship.  Nana and I have been walking at least 5 miles each day on this deck.
While Gpa was walking, he saw this cool bug.  You won’t see one of these in Virginia.
We had a nice dinner last night.  We first had tuna tartar which we special ordered.  Then we had a small pasta appetizer. Nana had Cioppino (seafood stew) and Gpa had lamb chops.  We had cheese for desert :).  We like cheese for desert and we have a glass of port wine with it.  Here is a picture Nana’s pretty dress from last night.  Gpa wore his flowery shirt.



Today we walked around Santo Domingo.  We have been here before, so we didn’t plan on doing very much.  We had coffee in a place that had internet.  We tried to call you on Vonage, but the call would not go through.  Gpa had to stop for a beer.


One picture we forgot to send to you was the big balloon drop during the Gala on the ship to celebrate the start of the World Cruise.
